Scholarships

The German University in Cairo has adopted since its inauguration a policy of supporting outstanding students through offering balanced and diverse several Scholarship Programs and Excellence Award Programs for talented new entrants as well as enrolled students as part of its philosophy of giving outstanding applicants equal opportunity to study at one of GUCs study programs on condition that scholarship holders will maintain high level grades throughout their study at GUC.

GUC offers various Scholarship Programs and Excellence Award Programs for:

  1. New Entrants
  2. Enrolled Students

1. New Entrants

A number of full as well as partial scholarships are offered every year for the best graduates of Al - Thanaweya Al - Amma and its equivalent, where students will be completely or partially exempted from study fees during the whole study at GUC on condition of maintaining satisfactory performance throughout their study period.

As such, the admission criteria for any scholarship program rely solely on academic distinction as the main measure for acceptance. Through its comprehensive and diverse scholarship programs for new entrants, GUC fulfills its social responsibility as a key player in Egyptian Academia.

Students may be considered for any of the full or partial scholarships starting winter semester if they meet the following conditions prior to the announced deadline for each scholarship program:

Students scoring excellent High School scores will be included in the scholarship ranking (full or partial) provided that they comply with the year of admission scholarship regulation and deadlines.

GUC Scholarship and Excellence Award Programs for New Entrants Include: 

Program 1: The National Top Ranked Thanaweya Amma Students’ Scholarship: 
for the National top ranked Al-Thanaweya Al-Amma students

GUC offers annually full scholarships for the top ranked national Al-Thanaweya Al-Amma holders to study in one of GUC’s different disciplines. Over the years hundreds of students have benefitted from this scholarship type. The scholarship covers:

  • Study fees throughout the whole study period (four or five academic years as per the chosen study group)
  • Accommodation based on availability (for non- Cairo residents)
  • Transportation (for non- Cairo residents)
  • Admission Test fees
  • Lab insurance

Scholarship regulation:

  • Applicant should be Egyptian citizen.
  • Applicant has to be among top 10 top ranked national Al-Thanaweya Al-Amma holders for the same year of admission.
  • Applicant has to pass GUC admission tests.
  • For faculties of Applied Sciences and Arts or Architecture Engineering passing the aptitude exam is a must.
  • Applicants should abide by all GUC bylaws and regulation, as well as GUC housing regulation.
  • Students receiving scholarships will maintain their scholarship so long as their overall GPA is better than 3.00 (C)
  • Applied Sciences and Arts (Design Program) students will be eligible for Academic Scholarships only after the evaluation and results of the Winter 2014 semester where the top ranked student(s) receive full or partial scholarships as per the university regulations.

Program 2: The Thanaweya Amma and Equivalent Certificates Scholarship: 
for the top ranked Thanaweya Amma and  foreign equivalent certificates holders (IGCSE, Abitur , American Diploma)

GUC offers annually full or partial scholarships for excellent Thanaweya Amma and foreign certificate holders (Abitur; IGCSE, and American Diploma).

Full or partial scholarships will be applied on tuition fees only. Students will have to pay the Admission Test fees and Lab insurance.

The final scholarship list will be announced separately according to the certificate type.

Scholarship regulation:

  • Submit an Admission Application, pass the Admission Tests, and submit the High School certificate results before the deadlines announced for each certificate type. For the exact dates and deadlines for each certificate type: Click Here.
  • For faculties of Applied Sciences and Arts or Architecture Engineering passing the aptitude exam is a must
  • Applicants have to be certificate holders for the same year of admission (i.e. no transfer students)
  • Applicants should abide by all GUC bylaws and regulation, as well as GUC housing regulation.
  • Students receiving scholarships will maintain their scholarship so long as their overall GPA is better than 3.00 (C)

Program 3: The Nile Basin Scholarship: 
Scholarships for students from the African countries students’ located on the Nile Basin - in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Scholarship Program offered in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for students’ of African countries located on the Nile Basin.

Scholarship regulation:

  • Applicant has to be a citizen to one of the Nile Basin countries.
  • Applicants should be a holder of high school certificate from a country in Nile Basin.
  • Applicant has to pass GUC admission tests.
  • For faculties Applied Sciences and arts or architectural engineering passing the aptitude exam for the applicant’s desired faculty is a must.
  • Submitting an official endorsed letter from the student’s embassy stating that the student is qualified to join the same requested faculty at GUC at his/her home country.
  • High school certificate (final grades) must be submitted with a key of grades for each certificate.
  • Applicants should abide by all GUC bylaws and regulation, as well as GUC housing regulation.
  • Students receiving scholarships will maintain their scholarship so long as their overall GPA is better than 3.00 (C)

Program 4: Egyptian Governorates Top Ranked Students’ Scholarship:
54 Scholarships to top ranked Egyptian students from public schools from the 27 different governorates to study in one of the GUC’s different disciplines.

GUC awards annually 54 full scholarships to the top ranked students in 27 governorates to study at the GUC.

In order to further emphasize the commitment of the GUC on supporting national potentials in all scientific and research fields, as well as to give those outstanding students the chance to receive an educational service at an international level in all GUC specializations, the GUC has launched this scholarship program targeting outstanding students in governorates to support equal opportunities among students in all governorates. 

The scholarship covers:

  • Study fees throughout the whole study period (four or five academic years as per the chosen study group)
  • Accommodation based on availability (for non- Cairo residents)
  • Transportation (for non- Cairo residents)
  • Admission Test fees
  • Lab insurance

Scholarship regulation:

  • Applicant should be Egyptian citizen.
  • Applicant should be among top ranked Al-Thanaweya Al-Amma holders on the Governorates level for the same year of admission.
  • Applicant has to pass GUC admission tests.
  • For faculties of Applied Sciences and Arts or Architecture Engineering passing the aptitude exam is a must.
  • Scholarship holders shall register for the full semester load of the regular student as per the study programs’ curricula.
  • Students have to graduate in the minimum graduation period required for each study group.
  • Applicants should abide by all GUC bylaws and regulation, as well as GUC housing regulation.
  • Students receiving scholarships will maintain their scholarship so long as their overall GPA is better than 3.00 (C)

1. Bayan Daragat of Thanaweya Amma certificate "مستخرج رسمى"
2. Original Birth Certificate
3. An official letter from the school stamped by educational zone confirming: 
   o That the student’s school is a public school مدرسة حكومية 
   o Student’s rank on the Governorate (only top ten ranked students from each      governorate are eligible to apply for the scholarship  
4. 6 Passport size Photos
5. Military Service Form (Namouzag 2 Gond), for Egyptian male students only
6. An Essay/Motivation letter explaining the special characteristics of your own       governorate as well as your ideas/vision for development plans 
    Presence of applicant’s legal guardian is a MUST upon submission of            originals  to sign on required GUC Admission documents

Program 5: Syrian Refugees Scholarship Program for Masters Degree:
10 scholarship opportunities to young Syrians, currently residing in Egypt registered as refugees through the UNHCR to study a two-year Master Program in the fields of Engineering or Management Technology.

The German Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in cooperation with Ulm University, are gladly announcing 10 scholarship opportunities to young Syrians, currently residing in Egypt registered as refugees through the UNHCR to study a two-year Master Program in the fields of Engineering or Management Technology starting the academic year 2018 / 2019 at the German University in Cairo.

The German University in Cairo wishes that the intended scholarships will give the postgraduate students the possibility to shape their future, to create new perspectives and to open new horizons. Such study opportunities shall also serve the goal of preparing highly qualified professionals and leaders that could play an integral role in rebuilding their home country Syria.

2. Scholarships for Enrolled Students

 

 

 

GUC offers scholarships for outstanding performance top ranked enrolled students from each study module.
The number of the scholarship is determined by the rank of student, semester and study module student belongs to.

Scholarships for Sport Achievements

GUC provides a scholarship program to distinguished sport achievements at international levels.
Please ask in the admission office for more details, the form to be filled in, deadlines for applying and required supporting documents.

Students receiving scholarships will maintain their scholarship so long as their overall GPA is less than 3.00 (C)
