Description

This course is on managing IS projects through planning and execution of lifecycle phases. It includes estimating costs, managing risks, scheduling, staff and resource allocation, team building, communication, tracking, control and other aspects of successful project completion.The course is designed to enable participants to plan all aspects of an IS project and to ensure that the project is implemented in a timely way and to budget. Beyond discussing principles and methods of IS project management in detail, the course takes a very practical approach, which examines best practice and why projects fail or succeed. After completing the course students should be able to:

 
•     Understand the manifold challenges of IS project management
•     Distinguish between different development lifecycles and approaches
•     Find appropriate approaches for dealing with various management objectives such as scope, time, cost, quality, risk
•     Take into account and discuss critical issues of IS project management from different perspectives
•     Apply project management methods and techniques to IS development cases
•     Evaluate and determine key factors of project success and failure
