Seminar in Economics (ECON 720)

Description

Seminars are core elements of a sound academic education and shall prepare the students to an independent analysis of complex problems in the field. This includes the use of the scientific methodology of the field of specialization. In the first major seminar ECON720, students have to write individual seminar papers and to present the results.

In Economics, the seminar topics are offered from three fields:
  1. Managerial Economics which deals with the application of microeconomic theory on real-world problems. Managerial Economics is also called “Industrial Organization”
  2. Environmental and Resource Economics which deals with natural resources like oil or metals, but also discusses topics discussing the economic perspective of the environment.
  3. Development Economics which include topics with a macroeconomic character and the discussion of inequality and poverty.
