Students learn the principles of microbial growth, eukaryotic cell cultures, bioreactors (design and configurations), kinetic modeling of cell growth, application of fermentation technology, biological safety considerations. The practical course covers the growth of cell cultures, calculation of bioprocess reactors, purification of products from cell cultures, determination of process parameters in a laboratory fermenter.
