Welding and Joining Technology and Processes (EDPT 701)

Course Prerequisites


Basic knowledge on procedures and materials. Gluing and soldering methods. Conventional melting- and compression welding. Innovative bonding technologies such as resistance, ultrasonic, friction, friction stir, laser beam, electron beam and diffusion welding, and on engineering tools of modern joining technology. Optimization of design and joining geometry, bonding of different materials, production and quality assurance including destructive and non-destructive testing as well as process analysis. Examples: Bonding of metals, polymers, aluminium, ultra thin rolled foils, materials hard to be bonded as ceramics and hard metals.
