Advances in Satellite and Terrestrial Digital Surveying Systems

Motivation of the Research Group:

Form a pioneering group of junior and senior researchers to contribute to the body of knowledge and advancement in geomatic engineering and geospatial information systems. Study advances in space (satellite) technology, computing (software and hardware) technologies and device appropriate procedures for efficient utilization in civil engineering. Introduce new approaches and methodologies for the collection, processing, analysis and display of digital mapping data and surveying systems measurements, with emphasis on digital terrestrial surveys and Precise Point Positioning (PPP), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Terrestrial and Mobile Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR).

Group Research Activities, Expertise and Focus Points:

  • Satellite geodesy, navigation & surveying emphasis on GPS / GNSS
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for engineering applications
  • Digital surveying systems and integrated mapping
  • Location Based Services (LBS) and mobile mapping
