FEM simulations with COMSOL / ABAQUS.

Focus is on the simulation of chemical sensors like ion mobility spectrometers and time of flight mass spectrometers and their combination. A goal is apart from new device developments for different scientific applications also to increase the resolving power as well as the miniaturization of such devices.

A second field is the simulation of photonic crystal based devices and optical fibers and their application in optical communication systems.

New mathematical models to solve finite element problems. The focus is on

  • spectral methods
  • hybrid calculations
  • boundary problems
  • initial value problems
  • Sturm-Liouville-Problems
  • integral equations
  • Wiener-Hopf-Equations
  • integro-differential equations

Typical applications are electrical systems, communications, radiation, reflection and transmission, as well as mechanical structures and multi-body systems.
