Building Engineering Drawing (CIG 302)

Course Prerequisites

Description

This course aims at making the students familiar with the use of drawings in building projects. A focus will be put on the students understanding and imagination of plan views, elevations, floor plans and sections. Building or architectural drawings will be introduced with their different kinds as per development stage of a project, e.g. layout, concept design, detail design and shop drawings as well as the importance and the use of as-built drawings. This also includes due presentation of a drawing, knowledge of applicable scales and the use of drawing symbols. Practical work, i.e. the preparation of drawings by the students stands at the forefront of this course. Drawings will be prepared first by hand and then electronic media (AutoCad) will be used in the tutorials.
