This research group focuses on scientific and technological advances in the area of audio and acoustics. This includes, but not limited to:

Consumer Acoustics, which plays an important role in entertainment and gaming and industries.

Digital Audio in Telecommunications, including voice-over-IP networks technology that is enabling effective local and overseas means of communications.

Ultrasonography, a radiation-free and safe medical imaging technology for internal organ checkup and diagnostics.
The group aims to:

Developing better techniques to improve the performance, efficiency and reliability of the audio and acoustic systems, e.g. noise reduction, echo cancelation and signal enhancement.

Equipping young engineers with deeper understanding of the scientific bases in the field as well as awareness of the state-of-the art technologies.

Paving the road for future progress in the educational materials in department.
