Structure-Property Relationship in Engineering Materials

This research cluster focuses on the prediction of materials properties and behavior using both experimental and numerical modeling concepts. It couples microstructure properties to the performance of engineering materials in the following areas:

  • Wear and frictionally loaded components (Current).
  • Fatigue failure in cyclically loaded components (Future).
  • The interaction of water with highly hydrophobic surfaces (Current).
  • Artifacts, archeological pieces and the strength of ancient script materials (Current).
  • The mechanical stability of components fabricated via additive manufacturing 3D printing technique (Current).
