Nanocomposites and Forensic Geotechnical Engineering

Motivation of the Research Group:

To conduct a comprehensive survey in Egypt –agricultural and industrial waste for use in civil infrastructure provide recommendations for future housing practices. The partial replacement of cement using local industrial/agricultural waste proposing sustainable solutions that could reduce cost significantly. The use of recycled synthetic fibers is equally studied for soil stabilization quantifying the amount and type.

Group Research Activities, Expertise and Focus Points:

  • Developing a new test method and device for rapid measurements of fines content in soils
  • Evaluation of microstructure of silt
  • Impact of microstructure on macro behavior of soils
  • Nanocomposites and their applications in geotechnical engineering
  • The design and performance of advanced composite slab on grade
  • Evaluation and design of raft foundations on problematic soils
