Job Description:
Assist and coordinate in technical and academic activities related to the operation of the civil engineering laboratories. Provide administrative services for the faculty to meet schedules and resolve technical problems. Ensure that standard lab procedures sand protocols are applied.
The candidate must have a civil engineering degree from a reputed Egyptian university (BSc or MSc) and due experience in leading civil engineering labs in teaching and research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement lab schedules together with civil engineering faculty to ensure proper usage of the laboratories in terms of manning, space, facilities, and equipment.
- Review and maintain lab policies and procedures, and coordinate with the civil engineering faculty members on issues which impact laboratory services.
- Review lab instructions, charts and graphs. Assist faculty members and TAs to solve specific lab-operating problems.
- Proactively support any running and upcoming research projects in the civil engineering labs.
- Promote student activities in the civil engineering labs (assignments, projects, theses, etc.)
- Receive new devices and equipments and keep lists of equipment inventory and associated maintenance records. Modify equipment manuals as needed and supervise purchase of lab supplies.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and records for the lab activities and equipment usage. Review technical reports reflecting the volume of work, procedures utilized and test results.
- Dealing with internal and external administration for maintenance, replacement or purchase of spare parts, equipment etc. in coordination with the responsible civil engineering faculty.
- Supervise quality control checks on safety of the civil engineering laboratories and monitor the calibration and maintenance of the facilities and equipment according to established lab practices.
- Continuously review, re-establish and enforce safety procedures, especially during student sessions, and consults with other lab managers about these issues.
- Supervise and evaluate performance of lab technicians and coordinate their training.
- Perform other related duties pertinent to the management of the civil engineering laboratories.
