About GUC and Civil Engineering:
The German University in Cairo is an Egyptian Private University with a mission to achieve excellence in teaching and research, established in cooperation with the German State Universities of Ulm and Stuttgart, under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts, State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Embassy in Cairo, the Arab/German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Universities of Stuttgart, Ulm, Mannheim, and Tübingen.
The Civil Engineering Program at the GUC, established in 2009, is dedicated to advancing and improving the knowledge and understanding of practice and research of both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Civil Engineering. It has well-equipped physical and computer labs that enable high-quality teaching and research.
Position Description:
The German University in Cairo is looking for highly able and motivated applicants wishing to join The Civil Engineering Program. Successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching of fundamental structural mechanics modules as well as practical structural design subjects, teaching assignments encompasses graduate and undergraduate programs.
Qualifications:
Candidates should hold a doctorate / Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a related area, and should demonstrate a track record or potential for conducting and supervising leading research projects. Some experience and demonstrated interest in interactive media is desirable.
Job Requirements:
- Fluent English Language skill, German would be an additional asset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent track record on teaching courses in all fields of structural engineering.
- Research interest and proven track record of funding application and conduction of research -projects and publications.
- Proficiency and knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications (e.g. structure analysis, structure design, dynamics, earthquake-resistant design, etc.).
- Lab proficiency and management of software lab facilities.
- Effective administrative skills, including the ability to organize and prioritize own workload in order to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Proactive initiative and ability to make decisions.
- Creativity and work resilience within the scope of work & resourceful problem-solving.
- Ability to work and interact efficiently with all levels of colleagues.
