“Toward Socially-Responsible and Sustainable Management Education and Practice” Workshop

The workshop presented a mutual cooperation between the Faculty of Management Technology at the German University in Cairo (GUC), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI). The workshop took place on May 6-7, 2015 at the Conrad Nile Ballroom. A pre-workshop seminar was also held on May 5, 2015 at the GUC. The event presented a bridge between the corporate and academic worlds in relation to the responsible and sustainable management discourse, and highlighted the important role of research-propelled sustainable development for the creation of a CSR ecosystem guiding the future of Egypt. Participants came from different stakeholders which represented local and multinational corporations, social enterprises, research centers, and universities, including the GUC, Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Helwan University, the AUC, the BUE, Suez Canal University, Kafr El-Sheikh University, Alexandria University, Fayoum University, Pharos University, among others. Researchers from the academic institutions, in collaboration with the participating companies, discussed action-oriented case studies utilizing the GVV methodology presented by Prof. Mary Gentile. These cases will be published at the global GVV collection and in a book showcasing best practices sponsored by the ILO.
