GUC and GIU Honor Egypt’s Top Secondary School Students and Award 79 Full Scholarships

The German University in Cairo (GUC) and the German International University (GIU) hosted a special ceremony honoring the top-performing General Secondary Education students from Egypt’s 27 governorates and their families, celebrating their outstanding academic achievements and awarding them full scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year.

 

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, alongside a number of governors, university leaders, deans, faculty members, students, and their families. The event celebrated the students’ exceptional accomplishments and highlighted the universities’ commitment to supporting academic excellence and providing outstanding students with access to high-quality higher education.

 

A total of 79 full scholarships were awarded by GUC and GIU, providing the outstanding students with the opportunity to pursue their undergraduate studies across the universities’ faculties during the upcoming academic year. The scholarships include 41 scholarships at GUC and 38 scholarships at GIU.

 

During the ceremony, Dr. Manal Awad expressed her pride in Egypt’s outstanding students, emphasizing the importance of investing in education, scientific research, and the country’s young talents. She highlighted the value of the scholarships in broadening students’ academic horizons and providing them with the opportunity to learn in an advanced educational environment that follows international standards.

 

The ceremony also featured remarks by Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of GUC and GIU, and Prof. Dr. Yasser Hegazy, President of GUC, who congratulated the students on their achievements and recognized the important role their families played in supporting them throughout their educational journey. Students who had previously received GUC scholarships also shared their experiences and encouraged the newly awarded students to continue pursuing excellence throughout their university studies.

 

The event brought together representatives from several Egyptian governorates, including the Governors of Dakahlia, Sharqia, and Aswan, reflecting the national reach of the scholarship initiative and the universities’ continued commitment to supporting high-achieving students from across Egypt.

 

Among the scholarship recipients from Sharqia Governorate, four students were awarded full scholarships to study Engineering at GUC: Yassin Sherif Mahmoud Ali, first-ranked in the governorate; Ali Nagy Ezzat Ahmed, second-ranked; Mostafa Tarek Azab Morsi, sixth-ranked jointly; and Mohamed Abdel Moneim Mohamed Abdel Moneim, ninth-ranked jointly.

 

The ceremony concluded with commemorative photographs with the scholarship recipients and their families, followed by a tour of GUC’s new campus, where guests had the opportunity to learn more about its facilities and modern educational infrastructure.

 

Through its annual scholarship program, GUC continues to recognize academic excellence and expand educational opportunities for outstanding students from across Egypt, supporting the development of the next generation of leaders, innovators, and professionals.
