The German University in Cairo (GUC) had the honor of hosting a distinguished German delegation of professors and policymakers, including Dr. Tina Weber from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMBF) – Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt, and Prof. Dr. Wolfram Ressel, Former President of the University of Stuttgart. The delegation’s official visit to the newly established Faculty of Dentistry and Deutsche Internationale Schule Kairo (DISK) marked an important milestone in expanding interdisciplinary cooperation between GUC and leading German academic and research institutions, with a focus on innovation, technology integration, and joint scientific research in the fields of medical and engineering sciences.

As one of GUC’s newest faculties, the Faculty of Dentistry represents a major step forward in the university’s ongoing growth and its commitment to advancing education in healthcare and biomedical sciences. The faculty features state-of-the-art laboratories, advanced simulation facilities, and modern clinical training units, offering students hands-on learning experiences aligned with international standards. It stands as a model of how GUC bridges education and innovation, empowering future dental professionals and researchers to apply cutting-edge knowledge and skills in real-world contexts.

The visit began with a tour of the Dental Simulators Laboratory, led by Prof. Dr. Shahinaz Elashiry, where the delegation explored GUC’s advanced simulation systems used to train dental students in a realistic digital environment. The visitors were highly impressed by the university’s integration of technology, engineering, and medical training, and discussed opportunities for interdisciplinary research in areas such as digital dentistry, biomaterials, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and smart education technologies.

In addition to their visit to the Faculty of Dentistry, the delegation also toured Deutsche Internationale Schule Kairo (DISK), GUC’s affiliated German international school. During their visit, they explored several innovative educational spaces and interactive student workshops that reflect GUC’s holistic vision for education — one that nurtures creativity, curiosity, and practical learning from school level through university education. The delegation praised DISK’s integration of hands-on activities in fields such as physics, robotics, design, and production, highlighting the strong connection between early education and higher academic advancement fostered by GUC.

The visit concluded with in-depth discussions on joint programs, exchange opportunities, and collaborative research projects between GUC and German universities, aiming to strengthen scientific ties and promote knowledge exchange. The delegation expressed great appreciation for GUC’s advanced facilities, interdisciplinary approach, and strong commitment to international collaboration, while reaffirming their enthusiasm for future cooperation.

The visit to both the new Faculty of Dentistry and DISK reaffirmed GUC’s position as a leading center for German-Egyptian academic collaboration, dedicated to shaping the future of education, research, and innovation in Egypt through excellence, creativity, and global partnership.
