The German University in Cairo (GUC) University Council recently visited Deutsche Internationale Schule Kairo (DISK) to explore a series of innovative workshops organized in the fields of Physics, Robotics, Law, Design, and Production. The visit showcased the exceptional creativity, curiosity, and technical expertise fostered among DISK students, reflecting the school’s strong commitment to hands-on, interdisciplinary education and early talent development.

Council members had the opportunity to engage directly with students, observe their projects, and gain insight into how DISK integrates scientific principles, technological innovation, and design thinking into its curriculum. The workshops demonstrated the importance of experiential learning in shaping young minds and encouraging students to apply academic knowledge in creative and practical ways. The visit also emphasized GUC’s belief that innovation begins with nurturing curiosity and discovery from a young age.

The workshops were organized under the umbrella of Sieger Explorers, a GUC-founded talent development initiative that partners with DISK to cultivate children’s and teens’ interests through hands-on, interactive learning. Since its establishment in 2003, GUC has been dedicated to supporting children’s talent exploration programs, designed to inspire curiosity and unlock potential across a range of fields — from simplifying scientific concepts to encouraging creativity in the arts, music, and design.

With the opening of DISK, these efforts were consolidated under the Sieger Talent Center, launched in Summer 2024 as a specialized platform for educational innovation. Since then, Sieger has trained around 300 students, guiding them through a structured journey of exploration, discovery, and skill development. Through immersive workshops and experiential activities, Sieger encourages participants to identify their passions, refine their abilities, and gain confidence to pursue their aspirations.

Following this inspiring visit to DISK and its Sieger-led activities, the Council proceeded to inaugurate the new state-of-the-art Faculty of Dentistry at GUC. The newly established faculty represents a major milestone in the university’s continued expansion of academic disciplines and its growing contribution to Egypt’s healthcare and medical education sectors. Equipped with modern facilities, advanced laboratories, and comprehensive clinical training units, the Faculty of Dentistry will provide students with a world-class educational experience aligned with international standards.

These visits mark an important step in GUC’s ongoing pursuit of innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. From nurturing creativity at the school level through initiatives like Sieger, to expanding world-class academic programs at the university level, GUC continues to empower future generations with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become leaders in their respective fields.
