Closing Ceremony of Connects 2025 - Third Edition

On August 2nd, The German University in Cairo (GUC) and the German International University (GIU), and German International University in Berlin officially wrapped up the third edition of Connects 2025 with a remarkable closing ceremony held in Berlin campus, celebrating the achievements of a highly successful 10-day workshop program. This year’s edition surpassed all expectations, offering 17 specialized workshops and attracting more than 600 participants from 15 top Egyptian universities.

 

The closing ceremony was both a celebration and a moment of reflection on the participants' remarkable journey. Attendees had the opportunity to explore an organized exhibition of the applicants’  projects developed during the workshops. The showcased work demonstrated the creativity, teamwork, and advanced skills acquired by the applicants. All participants were recognized by GIU Berlin during the certificate distribution ceremony, in honor of their dedication and active participation throughout the workshops. Thee event was honored by the presence of the presidents of the three universities: Prof. Yasser Hegazy, President of the German University in Cairo (GUC); Prof. Slim Abdennadher, President of the German International University in Cairo (GIU Cairo); and Prof. Ralf Klischewski, President of the German International University in Berlin (GIU Berlin), who joined in celebrating this significant achievement with the applicants. As part of the ceremony, each of the university presidents gave a speech, highlighting the program’s impact, commending the participants’ achievements, and reinforcing their universities’ commitment to collaborative, hands-on education.

 

Connects 2025  - Third Edition  is a joint initiative by GIU Berlin and GUC Berlin, offering a series of hands-on workshops aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world application The event brought together students, graduates, professors, and professionals to recognize the outcomes of a unique educational and cultural experience that spanned fields such as artificial intelligence, design, and innovation. The program reflects the growing strength of cross-border academic collaboration and its role in equipping youth with the tools needed to address global challenges.

 

Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of GUC and Co-Chairman of GIU, emphasized the significance of the Connects initiative in promoting intercultural understanding and hands-on learning. He highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to its educational mission — one that empowers youth, promotes innovation, and presents Egyptian identity on the international stage. As Connects 2025 comes to a close, it stands as a testament to the power of international collaboration, experiential learning, and academic excellence. The continued success of this initiative reflects the shared vision of GUC, GIU Cairo, and GIU Berlin in providing students with meaningful opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. With each edition, Connects strengthens the foundation for future cooperation and reaffirms the universities’ commitment to shaping globally competent, forward-thinking leaders.
