Sunday, June 29, 2025

Once again, the Sieger Explorers Center opened its doors for the second round of its exciting workshops at the German University in Cairo (GUC), giving a new group of eager young students the opportunity to explore and expand their minds. The Sieger Explorers workshops offer a stimulating environment that supports and inspires growth in various fields through dynamic, skill-building experiences.

Students took part in carefully designed sessions that aimed to cultivate their creativity, curiosity, and potential. Guided by GUC professors Prof. Amir Roushdy and Dr. Mohammed Abdel-Khaleq, the children explored concepts that could shape their future, while developing practical abilities and gaining a deeper understanding of the disciplines.

This week’s workshops featured two enriching tracks: Robotics Hackathon and Be A Character Designer. Both programs reinforced GUC’s mission to ignite early academic and creative development through interactive, real-world learning.

ROBOTICS HACKATHON

Led by Prof. Amir Roushdy, students were introduced to the fundamentals of robotics, mechanics, and programming through a series of hands-on activities and experiments. The young developers gained essential problem-solving skills, enhanced their creativity, and built a solid foundation in core STEM concepts.

Through assembling and experimenting with small robotic structures, students explored the basics of robotics, including simple machines and motorized mechanisms. They also delved into programming using block-based coding, integrated sensors, and built functional robots capable of responding to their environment.

BE A CHARACTER DESIGNER

Over the five-day Be A Character Designer workshop, students unleashed their creativity with the guidance of Dr. Mohammed Abdel-Khaleq. Immersed in the world of 3D character design, the young creators sculpted their own unique characters using plasticine, turning imagination into tangible forms.

This hands-on journey offered students the chance to express themselves artistically, learn new skills, and bring their ideas to life in a space filled with creativity, inspiration, and self-expression.

The second week of Sieger Explorers was a testament to the power of experiential learning and early engagement in creative and technical fields. With each workshop, students not only discovered new interests but also took confident steps toward shaping their own futures. GUC continues to empower young minds through opportunities that spark imagination, curiosity, and growth.
