In collaboration with the UNDP, six GUC Bachelor students of Architecture and Urban Design Department have been offered an internship by the UNDP mainstreaming biodiversity in Egypt’s tourism projects to provide architecture solutions for major sensitive areas to attract responsible tourism in the Red Sea region in Egypt.

The study was conducted in Nabq city, located 35 km north of Sharm el-Sheikh, where students were required to conduct ground tests and offer architecture design solutions to improve the life of Bedouins living in Gharqana village.

The GUC architecture team visited the site in October 2020 aiming to examine the daily routine, culture and tradition of the Bedouins in the village. The first phase of the study included environmental, sociocultural and sustainable tourism guideline analysis to ensure that the proposal reflects the culture heritage of Bedouins and at the same time attracts tourism.
