GUC - Egypt Goes Green Event

Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour the Chairman of Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo has welcomed H.E Dr. Yasmine Fouad Minister of Environment Arab Republic of Egypt on Monday 12th of April 2021 at GUC campus to celebrate the handing over certificates event to 24 students from the Faculties of Management Technology and Applied Sciences and Arts for their participation and presentations of awareness and marketing campaigns to eco- friendly products used on social media platforms under the title “Egypt Goes Green” led by Dr. Sara Eldeeb under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ehab Kamel Abouelkhier from faculty of Management Technology and Dr. Ahmed Wahby under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sabine Mueller from Faculty of Applied Sciences and Arts. The students' teams from both faculties have been working on their projects throughout the whole academic semester, to come up with a promotion plan based on a thorough  study of the market needs and demands. 

 

This emanates from GUC's keenness to provide from interdisciplinary projects across faculties and majors that include not only studying but also implementing knowledge to promote the rational uses of resources and sciences. As an educational institution, GUC is also committed to raising community awareness, through students and to youths, highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and GUC courses are designed to give students the means to apply what they have learned through educational and research activities. The outcome is a generation that is capable of achieving positive change. 

 

Graduates of the German University in Cairo have a history of positively contributing in many environmental projects and initiatives through their startups like upfuse that in 2018 produced 10k bags, upcycled 180k plastic bags & created more than 50 job opportunities. GUC has also established a Solar City in 2016.
