GUC Engineers Introduce Digital Tech. to Petroleum Field

German University in Cairo’s GUC, Faculty of Engineering graduates, Abdel Rahman Monsef, Amr Hesham Ismail, and Aktham Youssef, participated in developing the Egyptian Petroleum Refining Company in Mostorod, placing it at the front-line of advanced digital refineries in the region.

Participation and cooperation spirit are a common feature among the German University students and one of the factors of their excellence and success.

Munsif has obtained his Bachelors's and Master’s Degree from the GUC Faculty of Information Engineering and Technology - Electronics. The Egyptian Petroleum Refining Company in Mostorod is one of the most important projects that have been implemented in the oil and energy sector with the latest technology, as part of the state’s strategy to develop and increase Egypt's refining capacities and production capabilities of petroleum products to secure the needs of the local market and enhance the added value of Egypt's resources.

ERC is the biggest refinery in Egypt and the region. Munsif and his team managed to build and test the largest installed base of around 50,000 IOs.

In addition, they are also implementing the digital integrated solutions for the first time in Egypt to push ERC towards the front of the digital refineries in the region utilizing industry 4.0 concepts and pillars.

It was recently inaugurated by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and aims to achieve self-sufficiency in petroleum products, in line with the strategic objectives of Egypt’s 2030 vision.
