The German University in Cairo signs a Cooperation Protocol with Aswan Governorate, the capital of African youth, economy and culture

The German University in Cairo campus witnessed the signing of a protocol for bilateral cooperation signed by the Chairman of the Board of trustees of the GUC, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour and  Aswan Governor  Major General Ashraf Attia Abdel Bari with the aim of applying the terms of the visual branding project which would  support and develop the city aesthetically and strategically, under the  presidential mandate, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense’  Engineering Authority, to implement this project across Egypt.

The university has launched this project in Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh, Alexandria and is currently being implemented in 11 governorates.

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Professor Dr. Ashraf Mansour emphasized the historical and strategic importance of Aswan, as it represents a comprehensive civilization as the land of gold and the southern fortified gateway to Egypt, with Luxor bordered on the north, and the Red Sea governorate lying in east borders, the New Valley governorate in the west and Sudan on its south. “Aswan is also a link between the northern and southern halves of the Nile Valley, which is a focal point between Egypt and Africa,” Mansour said, explaining that the visual branding project implemented by the GUC integrates with the current development witnessed by the governorate. Mansour added that  this initiative would be implemented through the  coordination between the two sides and establishing a working team  affiliated to the Egypt branding Center, which is an integrated consulting office for the university that comprises the expertise of 3 thousand Egyptians and Germans from various disciplines from the faculties of Architecture, Engineering and Technology, Applied Sciences and Arts, Management Technology.

For his part, Major General Ashraf Attieh welcomed in his speech the fruitful and constructive cooperation with the university, pointing out that the presidential mandate to implement this pioneering project, reflects the extent of the political leadership's confidence in the university, describing it as a unique academic edifice that collects expertise and technical, technological and administrative capabilities.

The Governor affirmed that the mega projects, supported by the state and the government, are a title for the promising future with its many achievements and will be completed by implementing the largest civilized project to develop and beautify the old tourist market, the station square and the Durrat Al Nil plaza.

The signing of the protocol was attended by the President of the University Dr. Yasser Hegazy, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Ihab Kamel, Deputy Governor Eng. Ghada Abu Zaid, Secretary General of the Governorate Major General Hazem Ezzat  and the Egypt Branding Center team, a group of media professionals, faculty deans and teaching members of  the university.
