Rania Elkalla earned the prestigious award to her work “Project shell homage, The Pebbles hangers”

About the award winning Pebbles hangers:

“Pebbles are a decorative hanger set for everyday belongings with a secret tiny storage on the back and sides. It creates a flexible and playful system for organizing the little things. The user can create the look according to his/her need and mood. The Pebbles hangers are extruded on different levels and can be partially overlapped that offers a wide range of order. Reduced to the essentials, the organic forms elegantly highlight the beauty of the bio plastic used, reveals a unique texture and surface design. The design is a perfect solution to categorize small items, which easily get lost simply as keys, hand watch, USB, whether it is in the hallway, bedroom, or in the office. The material created is 100 % natural biodegradable plastic based on Egg and Nutshells and it is colored using food pigments. The shells are bonded with organic and biodegradable substances”

The A' Design Award is organized and awarded annually and internationally in multiple categories to reach a wide, design-oriented audience. The ultimate aim of the A' Design Award is to create a global awareness for good design.

The project was done under the supervision of both Dr. Alaa El Anssary, GUC  Product Design Department and Dr. Diana Tartakowska, TU-Berlin Material Engineering Department.
