For the first time the German University in Cairo Board of Trustees Meeting was held at the university campus in New Cairo, on Saturday, June 28, 2003.

The GUC staff hosted the Board of Trustees Members and other eminent guests for a tour after the meeting to perambulate the completion of the first construction phase where the GUC will open doors and start classes in October 2003. After which a dinner and farewell gathering was arranged for Mrs. Sibylla Bendig, First Secretary and Head of the Cultural Section, German Embassy at the JW Marriot Hotel, Mirage City.
