LIBRARY
- “Cataloging Librarian“
Core duties:
- Responsible for cataloging library materials, including continuing resources in both print and electronic formats.
- Cataloging and classification of all types of audiovisual materials and media performing both original and copy cataloging in all subject areas using LC subject heading, AACR2, and MARC21.
- Establish correct authority records for names, series, subject, uniform titles, etc.
- Recommend titles for purchase for the cataloging tools collection.
- Provide monthly, annual, and other reports related to cataloging work as requested by the Library Director.
- Use all available resources (as appropriate), including Internet, print, online, telephone, etc.
Qualifications:
- B.A. in Library &Information Science.
- 3-5 years experience in the field of libraries.
- Excellent spoken and written command of English and Arabic language, German is an asset
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook Express, PowerPoint
- Strong communication and presentation skills, creative, ability to work in a team and to set priorities
- “Reference Librarian“
Core duties:
- Provide reference services at public service desks, including occasional nights, and answer electronic reference queries.
- Choose sources appropriate to the question asked and to the questioner's objectives and level of expertise
- Notice and approach individuals who might need help
- Keep track of new resources as they are added to the collection or to which access has been provided
- Responsible for participating in all areas of reference services, including reference desk hours (some nights).
- Guide students, faculty, and other patrons in the use of research tools for GUC University courses.
- Prepare instructional guides to reference databases and other resources as needed or as requested.
- Recommend titles for purchase for the reference collection.

Core duties:
- Managing the acquisition of all collection materials in all formats, including electronic, for the Library.
- Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the collection and identifying collection needs and priorities.
- Responsible for implementing and evaluating Library collection development policies.
- Selecting materials and information resources in a well-defined area. Includes also collection management, preservation decision-making, receiving and selecting gifts
- Providing access to electronic materials, to analyze and resolve problems, and to develop and use statistical and other management reports.
- Communicate with assigned academic departments and programs for the promotion and development of new user services and digital initiatives.

Core duties:
- Ensure books are neatly arranged on shelves during and after library hours.
- Ability to communicate clearly with patrons, co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to follow library policies and procedures, especially as relate to checking out items and processing new materials.
- Ability to work with computer applications.
- Sort returned books, periodicals, and other items and put them on their designated shelves.
Qualifications:
- University Graduate preferably who have experience of working in libraries
