Materials Engineering plays a key role
in developing, operating and manufacturing new machines, devices,
plants, processes and new products. Since the knowledge of the materials'
behaviour and the reasonable application is the basis for successful
engineering and design, this study program offers tremendous possibilities
to students regarding their future ambitions.
In fact, Materials Engineering covers a markedly diverse range of
disciplines such as modelling and simulation of materials, finite
element method, recycling, strength of materials, material science,
e.g. material adopted manufacturing processes, materials testing,
damage, corrosion and wear.
The relevant materials are steel, castings, composites, ceramics
and plastics. Furthermore, basics of mechanical engineering are
treated in this program, i.e., engineering design, computer aided
design and material manufacturing technologies, thermodynamics,
fluid dynamics, information technology, probability and statistics,
quality and project management.
