Why Need a Car??!!

Summer 2006, I got the greatest chance of my life - to stay for one month in Freiburg, South West of Germany. Although it was raining most of the time, I had a really exciting experience and attended a very interesting language course. Beautiful nature, green mountains, clean streets ... But the best part was seeing so many bicycles in the street. Like most of the other German cities, people in Freiburg tend to use bicycles much more than cars.

They have special streets, traffic rules and traffic lights for cyclists. It was so interesting to see people in suits riding their bicycles in the morning heading to work. “They are easy to ride, a very good exercise, can go anywhere and will never ask you for fuel”, commented my colleagues amazed by the large numbers of bicycles we saw. It is really impressive to see how practical German people think knowing that Germany produces some of the fastest, most attractive and expensive cars in the world. I said once to myself “If I live in Germany, I must buy a Porsche”, but now, after what I have experienced, I guess a bicycle would be enough.
