For the first time in the GUC campus, Vodafone Egypt has provided “Self awareness-Career counseling” to GUC undergraduates on October 15th. .
During the 3-hour workshop, the Vodafone HR team explored with the GUCians the different paths to set a career goal, the requirements to get a position within a multinational company, and some tools to discover and show their potentials. It was also a nice opportunity to exchange thoughts and establish a link between academia and the business world. The small group of 20 selected students allowed a high interactivity in the discussions and exercises. The core purpose of the workshop was to encourage students to find their own treasures and sharpen their capabilities.
That’s why four main themes were tackled:
(1) Self-awareness “What makes everyone special?”, (2) Career goal “Where do I want to go?”, (3) Potential ways “How can I reach my career goal?” and (4) Self-Brand “How do others see me and how can I be a walking brand?”.
The event was both beneficial and enjoyable according to the attendees’ feedback:
“I loved it :-) It made my self-confidence much higher!”
“I was really satisfied & happy with the workshop and hope you can organize more similar events @ GUC”
“Impressed & happy with Vodafone’s Environment”
“I didn't get an answer but somehow a path or a way to reach it”
Another event, a “Company Visit”, has taken place in the Vodafone premises on the 1st of November. A selected group of 16 GUC students were invited to attend a full day in the Vodafone offices in Smart Village to get a real flavor of the work environment. The day was full of exchanges with Vodafone’s employees, presentation about Vodafone’s culture, environment and business, tour of the building, interactive job-shadowing, discussions about the professional future of the students, etc.
Again, the event was very interactive and inspiring according to the students ‘feedback:
“I love the place here. I wish to work here one day…”
“It is higher than my expectations… I really had a pleasant interesting useful day, which gave me a huge experience and told me more about Vodafone Company.”
“Working Environment is perfect!”
By carrying out similar student activities, Vodafone strives not only to create professional general awareness, but also to demonstrate how unique and lively the Vodafone environment is. The ongoing strong relationship with the GUC, with no doubt, has seen to this happening.
A special thank you from Vodafone to all the students who participated in these events and to the SCAD office (Student career & Alumni Development) that helped in organizing and coordinating this workshop.
Stay tuned for more Vodafone events..Coming up soon!
