On January 28th, the city of Berlin, the capital of the federal republic of Germany witnessed the official inauguration of the GUC Berlin Campus. Distinguished and prominent guests from Germany and Egypt attended the opening ceremony.
"There is no more important and no more rewarding investment than in the education of individuals who are willing to put their knowledge at the service of the community, to serve their country and the international community in which we are all involved." Highlighted Professor Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Prime Founder and Chairman of Board of Trustees of GUC, in his opening speech, welcoming all guests and representatives of all German and Egyptian institutions and thanking all GUC supporters and Partners.
In her speech, the Federal Minister for Education and Research, Frau Dr. Annette Schavan, emphasized the importance of scientific and cultural exchange to the welfare of humanity. Thus the German University in Cairo and its new GUC Berlin Campus present a role model of internationalization of education and science.
The GUC Berlin Campus will serve as a place of German-Egyptian encounter. It aims at broadening the bilateral academic and scientific relation between both countries. It gives the students the chance of international exposure and experience being taught by German academic staff members and having the opportunity of being exposed to latest technology and industries in their field of study through the rich academic related activities.
GUC Berlin Campus shall act as a cultural hub promoting international understanding and bridging between Egypt and Germany in many ways.
"And this is what diplomacy is all about" stated the Minister of State Frau Cornelia Pieper in her words, "laying strong foundations for mutual understanding between countries through science and academic exchange", stressing the fact the federal ministry of foreign affairs will continue supporting the German University in Cairo and its new GUC Berlin Campus.
"This project for a continuous German-Egyptian cooperation is equally important for the German and international students in Berlin." so Frau Dr. Rüland, the general secretary of the DAAD, congratulating the GUC on its great achievement.
During the opening Ceremony the guests listened to musical pieces performed by Ms. Ohoude Khedr, manager of GUC Music Academy and by the GUC students.
